Grant Boiler Spares by Model: A Winter Guide to Vortex, Combi, Euroflame and Spira Parts

Grant boilers are found in thousands of off-grid homes across the UK, from oil-fired Vortex condensing boilers to Spira wood pellet systems. When one breaks down in winter, the household often loses both heating and hot water, so getting the right part quickly matters. The trouble is that Grant spares are model-specific: a baffle, gasket or expansion vessel that fits one boiler may not fit the next.

This guide breaks down the most common Grant spares by model range, so homeowners and engineers can narrow down what they need before the cold weather sets in.

First, Find Your Model and Part Number

Grant part numbers usually start with a short code that tells you which range they belong to. As a rough guide, you'll see codes such as VBS on Vortex parts, MPCBS on many combi parts, EFBS on Euroflame parts and WPS on Spira pellet parts. Always check the code on the old part or in your boiler's installation and servicing manual before ordering. Our guide on identifying your boiler model shows where to find the data badge.

Grant Vortex Condensing Boilers

The Vortex range is Grant's popular condensing oil boiler. Because it condenses, it has a condensate trap and hose that need to stay clear, and baffles and gaskets that are checked at each service.

Grant Vortex Combi and Vortex Pro Combi

Combi boilers have extra parts for hot water on demand, so they tend to need more spares when something goes wrong. Low pressure, no hot water and a boiler that fires for heating but not taps are typical combi faults.

Grant Euroflame and Multipass

Older non-condensing Grant models are still running in many homes. Baffles and door seals are the usual service items, along with switches and controls.

Grant Spira Wood Pellet Boilers

The Spira is Grant's wood pellet boiler, with its own set of feed, ignition and fan parts. Pellet boilers work hard through winter, so ignition elements and gaskets are worth keeping an eye on.

Parts That Fit Across Many Models

Some Grant spares are useful to keep on hand whatever the model, such as the fibre washer set MPCBS34, 3/8" auto air vent MPCBS29, manual air vent MPCBS68 and the 3/8" x 10mm oil isolation valve.

Winter Tips for Grant Boiler Owners

  • Get it serviced before the cold sets in. Oil boilers should be serviced every year by an OFTEC registered engineer. Book early, as autumn is the busiest time.
  • Watch the condensate pipe. On condensing models like the Vortex, an outside condensate pipe can freeze in very cold weather and cause the boiler to lock out. Pouring warm (not boiling) water over the frozen section often clears it. If it keeps happening, ask your engineer about insulating or rerouting the pipe.
  • Check the pressure on combi and sealed systems. If the gauge keeps dropping, a faulty expansion vessel or pressure relief valve is a common cause.
  • Check your oil level and order fuel early, before prices and delivery times rise.
  • Leave the repairs to a qualified engineer. Any work on the burner, oil supply, flue or electrics should be done by a competent professional.
